Mirror/Mirror

ESNS (2023). 2024 permanent installation at Artphy. Commissioned by Kunstpunt and ESNS with technical assistance of CIG Architecture

This 3.8 meter high sculpture by Eirik Jahnsen stands still but is constantly in motion at the same time. The weather, the environment and the light constantly cause the mirrored work to change it’s appearance. Jahnsen has worked the metal in such a way that it looks almost liquid, or like crumbled paper or draped textiles. The dents and bulges in the plates ensure that you see a distorted variant of the environment, which you as a viewer experience particularly well when you walk around the work, and especially when you get close to it.
